St Helen’s
Ospreys rugby has a seafront setting at St Helen’s, alongside a much older Swansea sporting history. The redeveloped ground brings new stand choices and hospitality linked to businesses across the road.

St Helen’s returns as the Ospreys home
St Helen’s is the Ospreys’ 2026–27 home, with the club’s first URC match at the redeveloped ground scheduled against Dragons on 24 October 2026. The September opening announcement sets out a phased programme of university, school and Swansea RFC events beforehand. As this guide is checked before that first Ospreys fixture, the opening-night arrangements remain part of a live commissioning process.
Swansea Council’s blue-plaque history dates St Helen’s foundation as Swansea Cricket Club’s home to 1873. The rugby history begins slightly later: the ground’s long life predates the Ospreys by well over a century. The 1873 opening year therefore describes the original sports site, while 2026 marks a substantial redevelopment and a new professional-rugby chapter rather than the creation of an entirely new location.
Swansea RFC have played at St Helen’s overlooking Swansea Bay since 1876, four years after the club’s formation. The All Whites remain part of the venue’s identity alongside the Ospreys. Their 150th anniversary at the ground falls in 2026, which explains why the reopening programme places the long-established club beside the incoming professional side rather than treating Swansea RFC as a passing guest.
Ospreys spent 2025–26 at Brewery Field in Bridgend while preparing the St Helen’s move. The August 2025 lease announcement described that as a one-season relocation and outlined improvements for Bridgend spectators during the interim. Swansea.com Stadium, Brewery Field and St Helen’s therefore belong to different stages of the club’s recent venue history; an old Ospreys travel page can lead to the wrong town.

All Whites history by Swansea Bay
On 28 September 1935 Swansea beat New Zealand 11–3 at St Helen’s. The club’s season archive records the result that made the All Whites the first club side to defeat the All Blacks. It is one of the most substantial sporting stories attached to this seafront ground, and remains distinct from any result achieved by the much younger Ospreys professional organisation.
Swansea University’s digital collection preserves the jersey worn by All Blacks lock William Reuben Collins in that 1935 defeat. The object links the famous score to a surviving piece of material history. The collection can be explored online.
Swansea later drew 6–6 with New Zealand at St Helen’s in 1953 and beat reigning world champions Australia 21–6 on 4 November 1992. The club’s history also records wins over Australia in 1908 and 1966 and a 1973 draw. Those specific touring-team encounters explain the ground’s reputation across several generations, not merely as the site of one celebrated 1935 afternoon.
The St Helen’s Archive holds the programme for the 1935 New Zealand match and describes a crowd of around 30,000. That historical attendance belongs to a very different ground configuration from the compact 2026 redevelopment. It should be read as part of the event’s scale and archive record, never as evidence for the number of spectators admitted to a current Ospreys match.

Swansea station, Mumbles Road and Bryn Road
Ospreys identify Swansea as the nearest railway station and give an approximately thirty-minute walk to St Helen’s. Their travel page lists direct main-line services from west Wales, Cardiff, Newport, Bristol Parkway and London Paddington. The stadium is in Brynmill on the seafront, so this arrival is separate from the old journey towards the Swansea.com Stadium at Morfa.
The club lists 4 and 4Aas direct stadium-to-rail bus connections. Mumbles Road stops stand immediately outside the ground, with level access and a signal-controlled pedestrian crossing. Other listed services towards the city bus station include 1,2,3Aand 116, while theX1 links the seafront with places including Bridgend, Pyle and Port Talbot. Use the dated operator planner for departures.
There is no supporter parking inside St Helen’s. Ospreys identify the Rec car park, parking near The Secret and Adelina’s, and Swansea Baths car park, describing them as within five minutes on foot with level access and wheelchair spaces. The club also places the ground on National Cycle Route 4, providing a named cycling approach along Swansea Bay.
The registered Ospreys address is St Helens Stadium, Bryn Road, Brynmill, SwanseaSA 2 0 AR. Bryn Road is useful for identifying the actual stadium campus when a map search also returns Swansea’s other sports venues. The club’s public travel page uses the same Brynmill postcode, while hospitality restaurants across Mumbles Road have their own separate addresses.
Our advice (opinion): For an arrival from Swansea station with less walking, compare the 4 and 4A connections with the club’s thirty-minute walk; both serve this new seafront destination.

Local dining and the Aviary
The Nest hospitality package begins with an Indian meal at Adelina’s in the Patti Pavilion across the road, followed by premium South Stand seats. At half-time it uses the Aviary marquee for tea, coffee and Welsh cakes. This is a particularly local arrangement: the advertised experience combines a neighbouring restaurant with facilities inside the new rugby venue.
The Premier Club is based in the Aviary marquee, with food prepared by The Secret, halfway-line South Stand seats and player entertainment. The club’s description includes a two-course meal, half-time Welsh cakes and post-match savouries.
Adelina’s Bar and Kitchen is at Patti Pavilion, Mumbles Road, SwanseaSA 1 4 PQ. Its own menus include Indian dishes, a separate vegan menu, cocktails and mocktails. That gives the stadium’s hospitality partner a verifiable address and food identity, and provides a direct route for enquiries about a separate restaurant visit outside an Ospreys package.
The Secret Beach Bar and Kitchen describes a beachfront Swansea Bay setting with Welsh and modern British menus and breakfast coffee. It is named by Ospreys as the food provider for the Premier Club, linking the stadium’s dining offer to a local seafront business. A booking at the restaurant and a rugby hospitality booking remain separate purchases.
The St Helen’s redevelopment received a£771,000 grant through the 5GInnovation Fund for digital infrastructure. Ospreys describe a Vodafone standalone private network supporting broadcasting, live statistics and future fan features. The announcement distinguishes later possibilities such as digital wayfinding and mobile replays from the initial infrastructure, so those future features should not be assumed to operate on every opening-phase matchday.
Our pick (opinion): The Nest would be our hospitality choice for making Swansea Bay part of the occasion: the meal at Adelina’s and Welsh cakes in the Aviary give it a local shape.

A new South Stand and an uncovered terrace
The current membership plan offers three main areas: the Main Terrace, the West Family Stand and the JCP Solicitors Stand on the south side. The South Stand has several seating products, while the Family Stand is explicitly marketed for families. Those current names are more useful than an old cricket-ground diagram showing the previous arrangement of stands and open space.
Swansea Bay News reports a five-year JCP Solicitors naming agreement for the new South Stand and describes the rebuilt ground as a little under 7,000 capacity. Its September 2026 report places the new stand on the seafront side, the relocated existing stand at the Mumbles end and the fan zone at the Guildhall end. That is a redevelopment figure rather than an exact licensed event limit.
Ospreys’ September redevelopment update says the new 3Gpitch has been moved closer to the refurbished terrace. It describes nearly 2,000 seats in the new seafront stand and the existing stand being relocated towards Mumbles. These changes alter the geometry of watching rugby here, bringing a dedicated rugby layout to a site formerly shared with cricket.
The September opening programme explicitly states that the terrace roof will not be delivered in phase one. Earlier plans described a roofed terrace, but that proposal must not be presented as an opening-season facility. Supporters choosing the Main Terrace should therefore use the current ticket information with the knowledge that the first phase does not include the promised future roof.
Our opinion: The terrace’s missing phase-one roof is the key booking distinction at this opening stage. Choose a seated stand if cover is central to your plans, and use the current St Helen’s map: the old stand has moved towards Mumbles.

St Helen’s access arrangements
Ospreys offer disabled access and free personal-assistant tickets through their 2026–27 arrangements, working with Nimbus Access Card. The club asks supporters to contact its ticketing team for individual requirements.
Ospreys’ current contact page directs ticket, membership, hospitality and accessibility enquiries to ticketing@ospreysrugby.com. It also lists the ticket office for telephone assistance. That single team can connect an access request with the actual St Helen’s booking, which is particularly relevant during the phased opening when the offered blocks and allocations may develop between fixtures.
The redevelopment includes bringing the clubhouse into council ownership and providing modern changing facilities, accessible amenities and adaptable indoor rooms. Ospreys’ September update frames those spaces as serving sport and wider community use.

A Swansea seafront rugby visit
The Patti Pavilion address makes Adelina’s a seafront option rather than a city-centre bar near the railway station. Its online menu includes onion bhajis, chicken tikka, seekh kebabs and a vegan selection. Those are published restaurant choices, useful for comparing a separate meal with The Nest’s arranged dining experience, whose actual matchday menu comes from the purchased package.
The archived Brewery Field travel guide gives a ten-minute walk from Bridgend station for the 2025–26 season. That estimate does not apply to St Helen’s, where Ospreys now publish thirty minutes from Swansea station. This matters for accommodation as much as transport: an older Bridgend hotel plan was appropriate for the temporary season but does not describe the new Swansea home.
Platinum Club members use the 1876 Supporters Lounge in the north-east clubhouse and take their match seats in the South Stand. The lounge was formerly called the St Helen’s Lounge. That separated lounge-and-seat arrangement is worth recognising when comparing overnight hospitality packages, because the social space and the viewing position occupy different parts of the ground.
Our opinion: A seafront stay now fits the Ospreys destination much better than a hotel chosen for the old Morfa stadium or the temporary Bridgend season. Adelina’s and The Secret also make the new hospitality offering unusually tied to neighbouring Swansea Bay businesses.

Opening phase, memberships and community use
The 2026–27 Ospreys membership includes nine URC home fixtures, two European Challenge Cup fixtures and home academy games. Swansea RFC access is available as a separate add-on, rather than being automatically the same ticket. The two teams share St Helen’s, but the competition and membership product determine which matches a particular purchase covers.
The Founders Club offer includes a name on the Founders Wall, a commemorative badge and certificate, and an event described in the original launch as including the first official stadium tour. That is a defined membership benefit.
The March 2026 agreement identifies St Helen’s as a professional and community rugby home, with use by Ospreys, Swansea RFC, Swansea University, schools and local clubs. This explains why a visitor may find university or community activity on the pitch outside the professional schedule. The site’s new role includes regular weekday rugby rather than only Ospreys home matchdays.
The September project update values the redevelopment at£7.6 million and states that Ospreys are investing£2.6 million while securing a fifty-year lease and taking responsibility for matchday operations. Those published arrangements explain the partnership behind the ground’s transformation. They are separate from an assurance that every future development phase or proposed facility is already complete.
